About the Hyundai Aura
The Hyundai Aura with the CNG factory-fit kit is the running-cost king of the entire fleet. CNG fuel costs roughly half what petrol does per kilometre, and the Aura returns around 26 km/kg on CNG in mixed driving — which means a 600 km Jodhpur–Jaisalmer–Jodhpur round trip costs roughly ₹1,400 in fuel, versus ₹2,400+ in a comparable petrol car. If your trip is fuel-cost-sensitive, this is the car.
It's a proper compact sedan — 5-seater with a 402-litre boot (large enough that even with the CNG tank installed in the boot floor, you can still fit two full-size suitcases plus daypacks). The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol-CNG bi-fuel makes 69 hp on CNG and 82 hp on petrol; you start the car on petrol, switch to CNG once warmed up via a dashboard button, and the changeover is seamless.
Cabin equipment is more generous than the price suggests: 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and CarPlay, rear AC vents (uncommon at this price), automatic climate AC, projector headlamps, push-button start, and a wireless phone charger. Rear seat is genuinely comfortable for two adults — sedan boot lifts the rear legroom over a similarly-priced hatchback. Boot lid opens wide, easy luggage loading.
We hand the Aura over with both tanks full — petrol enough to start and warm up, CNG enough for around 350 km. A demo of how to switch between fuels takes 60 seconds at handover. Tyres are fresh, AC is cold, and the car is fully serviced.
