Mahindra Thar ROXX

The Thar ROXX is the answer to the most-asked question we get about the regular Thar: "but can it fit five people, including a child seat, properly?". Yes — that's exactly what the ROXX is for. Five seats, rear doors that open like a normal SUV, more legroom for the back row, a bigger boot, and all the off-road capability of the regular Thar 4×4.

Mechanically it's based on the larger Mahindra Scorpio N platform, which means independent rear suspension (the regular Thar has a solid rear axle), better ride comfort on broken tarmac, and a quieter cabin at highway speeds. The 2.2-litre diesel produces 152 hp here — meaningfully more than the regular Thar's 132 hp — and 330 Nm of torque. Result: highway cruising at 110 km/h is genuinely relaxed, and on broken roads it's noticeably more composed than the regular Thar.

Inside, the ROXX gets the modern Mahindra treatment: dual 10.25-inch screens (instrument cluster + infotainment) with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360° camera, automatic climate AC with rear vents, six airbags, ESP, hill-descent control, and one of the best Indian-market touchscreen interfaces of any SUV under ₹25 lakh. The rear seats slide and recline; two adults sit comfortably with rear headroom that adults at 6' don't complain about.
