The Toyota Glanza is what we hand to renters who want "just an easy car" and have specified automatic. It's the Toyota-badged sibling of the Maruti Baleno, which means you get the well-proven 1.2-litre petrol with mild-hybrid assistance, an AMT automatic gearbox, and Toyota's after-sales reputation backing the engineering. For a first-time Indian-roads driver, a senior parent, or anyone who's only ever driven automatic — this is the lowest-friction option in our fleet.
On the road, the AMT shifts smoothly enough in normal driving that you stop noticing it within 10 minutes. The 1.2 petrol is responsive in city traffic and has enough top-end for highway overtakes when you flatten the throttle. Mild-hybrid assistance means real-world fuel economy of 19–22 km/L in mixed conditions — for a city-friendly automatic at this price, that's a genuinely good number.
Inside, the cabin is bright and well-equipped: 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360° camera (useful in tight old-city parking), automatic climate AC, push-button start, and a head-up display on the higher trim. Rear seat fits two adults comfortably, three at a squeeze; boot takes two cabin trolleys plus a backpack. Build quality and ride comfort are slightly better than the Baleno's — Toyota tweaks the damping marginally on the Glanza.
